What a Le Pen presidency would really mean for France and the EU
French far-right leader Marine Le Pen vowed on Sunday to wrest back powers from an intrusive and

Outside France a Le Pen presidency would imperil the foundations of the European Union and question its post-World War Two order. Jordan Bardella the protégé of Ms Le Pen who led the National Rally to victory in European Parliament elections in May said the bloc was anti-democratic and must be changed.

Within France, Ms. Le Pen has pledged to reduce immigration, crack down on crime, and boost the economy. She has also promised to hold a referendum on whether to leave the European Union.

Le Pen's victory would be a major blow to the EU. The bloc is already facing a number of challenges, including the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, and the rise of populism. A Le Pen presidency would further destabilize the EU and could lead to its collapse.
