Dark Sky Spirits Breaks Ground on New Whisky Distillery

Hand-Crafted Whisky and Gin Produced in Small Batches at Scotland's First Modern Wood-Fired Distillery

Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland – Dark Sky Spirits has broken ground on a new distillery that will produce hand-crafted whisky and gin in small batches. The distillery will be the first in Scotland to use a modern wood-fired still, which will give the spirits a unique flavor profile.

The distillery is being built in a former mill building in the town of Moffat. The building has been renovated to create a modern and efficient production facility. The distillery will have a capacity of 500,000 liters of alcohol per year.

Dark Sky Spirits was founded in 2017 by two friends who shared a passion for whisky. They wanted to create a whisky that was both exceptionally drinkable and representative of the unique terroir of Scotland. The distillery's name is a nod to the Moffat Hills, which are known for their dark skies.

The distillery will produce a range of whiskies, including a single malt, a blended malt, and a peated malt. The gin will be made with juniper berries and other botanicals that are grown in Scotland. The spirits will be available for purchase at the distillery and online.

The distillery is expected to open in 2022. It will be open to the public for tours and tastings. The distillery will also have a visitor center where guests can learn about the history of whisky making in Scotland.

Dark Sky Spirits is excited to be part of the growing Scottish whisky industry. The distillery will create jobs and boost the local economy. The distillery will also help to promote tourism in the Moffat Hills.

We are open 10am-5pm Monday - Saturday and 12-4pm. Join us on the journey to wood-fired whisky.
